USER EXPERIENCE EXPERTS First Impression, Best Impression

Does your website leave a lasting impression with its users? Does it represent your brand well? Can they find the information they’re looking for? Is it easy to use? Does it adapt to the device they’re using?

Aesthetics are fairly subjective. User experience isn’t. We build sites that communicate clearly and consistently with the rest of your brand, are efficiently designed to create an effortless customer journey, and offer effective functionality and interactions.

User Experience Process & Insights

Ask & Answer

UI/UX Experience
What does a projects team configuration typically look like?

Each UI/UX project receives a dedicated project manager, digital strategist, user experience expert, and developer.

Depending on the project's scope and size, we may expand that team to include additional designers, developers, content writers, and asset creators.

Can you explain your discovery process?

During our discovery & strategy phase we create various user personas and user flows that help us understand what we want to communicate with our users and how to do it. We send surveys to your existing customers and cross compare what's important to them.

Now that we’ve mapped out the three to five most important topic points to each persona, we can leverage a combination of large imagery, consistent icons and colors, as well as video throughout the website that will help create a connection with the user and educate them on a potential experience that they might have from using your service.

How involved does my team need to be during discovery?

This part’s highly collaborative, and we enjoy our client’s input. We’ll be incorporating existing branding, gathering feedback on new elements, pitching aesthetics, and seeking approval on layouts.

Will you work on an existing website or do you have to build the website from scratch?

We definitely work with existing websites to improve them. Those engagements are typically on a monthly retainer basis, with a retainer minimum of $2500/per month.

How do you handle performance optimization for your websites?

We start by following best practices: minimizing server requests, compressing images, videos, css, javascript, and HTML to their bare minimum. We often connect our clients with third party CDN services such as CloudFlare to run parallel requests and improve overall performance.

Post launch, and on a monthly basis we monitor site performance overall leveraging tools like Pingdom. With various content managers using the platform, sometimes best practices are overlooked. Our goal is to effectively correct and minimize that impact.

Do you design with a mobile first approach?

Over the years we've discovered that the best experiences require an “audience first” approach to design.

We examine our customers platforms and optimize the design to fit where the majority of their traffic comes from. So for customers who receive the majority of their traffic from mobile devices, we’ll optimize for mobile devices first. If a customer receives the majority of their traffic via desktop, we’ll prioritize that instead.

How easy is it to manage the websites you build?

We prioritize non-technical users on our website projects. Our goal is to get someone who could edit a Microsoft Word document comfortable with editing their website.

UI/UX Experience
What tools do you use?

We use a fairly wide array of tools to make sure our user experience designs are top notch. We prototype with Sketch and InVision, and will sometimes use Principle to create interactive prototypes.

We create art and assets using a many programs within the Adobe Creative suite, such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

For user behavior tracking and understanding, we use tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar, and Optimizely to perform our tests.

What brands have you helped with their user experience?

We've worked with dozens of brands over the past 6 years. To name a few of our most recent: American Casting, American Crew, Buechel Stone, Color Club Cosmetics, CoverFX, DFI Hair, Hard Candy Cosmetics, Ironside Computers, Ortho Mattresses, Raw Rev, Recognition Source, Rug & Home, Territory, and Zebra Organics.

How do you combine user experience with branded assets?

Memorable brand experiences are designed to create specific, valuable interactions between brands and/or products and services and the people that matter most to them.

We create awareness of a brand promise, proof of a brand’s promise and the benefits of a product or service through the digital platforms we create.

What is your experience with interaction design?

User experience design is about shaping the experience of using a product, interaction design shapes the experience between the user and the product. How something is said, visualized, organized, or the time it takes to react is scrutinized to deliver customers a truly polished end-product.

What do you mean by "frictionless user experience"?

The first requirement for a memorable user experience is to meet the exact needs of the customer, without any unnecessary complications. Next is a focus on simplicity and elegance to produce products that are a joy to use. True user experience goes far beyond giving customers what they say they want, or providing checklist features.

Can you explain your pricing and engagement structure?

Our pricing is based off of how much work we’re doing. We work off of retainers. If a client is looking for a complete rebuild then there’s usually a higher concentration of work in the first four to six months of the engagement and then it reduces to a smaller percentage of hours for a number of services. This services are:

  • User Data Analysis
  • Conversion Optimization
  • Website improvements and strategies
  • Mobile UI/UX Design
  • B2B Website Development
  • Social Integrations
  • Facebook Messenger Chatbot Creation
  • Platform Experience Innovation

On average, our customers spend a minimum of $20K with us on an initial engagement.

Do you have minimum pricing retainers?

Our retainers range anywhere from $2,500 - $15,000 per month.

Do you offer 24 hour support to your clients?

We don’t offer 24 hour support, but we do offer emergency services report that go beyond our normal business hours (9a-6p)

Would you train my staff on how to use the website?

We offer full-documentation for our e-commerce website development platforms. We also can host in person or virtual workshops to help train key staff members on best practice, and general website management.

Do you handle regular website maintenance?

Yes, our monthly maintenance retainers start at $300/month and cover back-ups, updates, bug fixes, and performance testing.
