The Objective
Dollar Energy has the goal of providing the much-needed service of offering those going through financial hardship the funds to ensure that they are able to pay their basic utility bills.
In order to do this, it was essential that their redesign created a welcoming space that’s easy to navigate and optimized for various device and browser speeds to accommodate audience demographics. It was particularly important for their mobile experience to be intuitive, as their audience relies heavily on mobile devices.
In addition to making the website more accessible, it was also crucial that a better tracking system was put in place for donations that are made to them.

Dollar Energy benefitted from introducing a lighter, happier feel to their website that welcomes not only those in need of their services but donors, as well.
Utilizing whitespace and a straightforward color palette allows for an easily navigable website with clear CTAs.

Dollar Energy caters to individuals who are in need of financial assistance with their utilities and individuals who are looking to donate to their cause. To create a user-friendly experience for these targeted audiences, the website needed to provide a calming visual presence.
Additionally, making it easy to edit pages in the back end and creating tracking capabilities for donations was important, as well.
We accomplished creating solutions for these issues by utilizing analytics to better track donations, optimizing the site speed and the mobile website for a better user experience, and reorganizing the website so it’s not only more easily navigable but also more convenient to edit the separate pages.

When you reach Dollar Energy’s home page, it is very clear what they do and what actions can be taken on the website. The three CTAs are at the top of the page with buttons labeled “Donate,” “Need Utility Assistance,” and “Check Application Status.” This is followed by a cheerful graphic that keeps the website welcoming and light-hearted.
The center of the home page focuses on giving a more detailed description of what Dollar Energy does, building trust with the company’s statistics, and giving a thorough guide to how the process works, with buttons at the top to choose whether you’re interested in the getting assistance or donating. This interchangeable guide saves space and makes the steps to follow for each process unmistakable.
At the bottom of the page, there is a dropdown and interactive map to search for assistance programs by location. This is followed by a section of their most recent blogs and resources.
Mobile Design
Because Dollar Energy’s demographic relies so heavily on mobile devices, it was absolutely crucial to create a smooth mobile experience.
To guarantee that everything was accessible, we ensured that the mobile website was extremely intuitive and easy to navigate. The experience was optimized for ideal load speed times, as well.
